We are thrilled to announce the launch of the "Empowering Women-owned Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Circular Economy and Green Business" project in Mongolia!
Today, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM), Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association, and Development Solutions (DS) NGO, officially commenced this groundbreaking project.
At the project launch event held at the Gallerria Ulaanbaatar, and simultaneously in Khuvsgul and Arkhangai, we had the honor of hosting 350 inspiring women entrepreneurs from the food and packaging sectors in the tourism industry. These incredible women will play a pivotal role in driving the transition toward a more sustainable and inclusive future.
After the project launch, Dr. Sumjidmaa conducted the very first Circular Economy training session, while DS consultants delivered training simultaneously in Arkhangai and Khuvsgul. The training topics included Understanding Circular Economy Principles and Shifting towards Circular Economy Business Models.
The primary objective of this project is to empower women-owned Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) by enhancing their knowledge and capacity in the circular economy and green business.
As we recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is crucial to equip these entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to thrive. The project will be implemented in three phases. Firstly, we will conduct an analysis of the policy environment and legal acts supporting the circular economy, identifying opportunities and challenges. Secondly, we will develop a comprehensive program to enhance the understanding of the circular economy among MSMEs, focusing on targeted sectors. Finally, we will organize best practice sharing events and policy dialogues to facilitate knowledge exchange at the national and international levels.
To provide crucial support for women entrepreneurs, we will offer capacity building training and mentoring activities. Waste management, energy saving, and business model redesign will be key focus areas. Additionally, we are excited to introduce a grant program that will provide funding opportunities of up to $10,000 for 15 female entrepreneurs with outstanding green business project proposals. This financial support aims to kickstart innovative and sustainable initiatives.
We believe that empowering women in the circular economy sector will not only drive economic growth but also contribute to a more sustainable future. By promoting sustainable practices, gender equality, and green business models, we are paving the way for a greener and more inclusive Mongolia. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting journey towards a circular economy and green business empowerment! Together, we can make a difference. 🌍💚
