USAID’s BEST program presented the pivotal results of “Mongolia’s Small and Medium Enterprises Competitiveness Survey” to representatives from government agencies, banks, non-banking financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and international and non-governmental organizations.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM) to present the key findings of the survey to the main stakeholders of the SME sector. The participants held a discussion on the low-rated indicators from the survey results and exchanged insights on further initiatives.

Notably, this survey is the first study assessing the SME’s competitiveness comprehensively based on three key factors – capacity to compete, capacity to connect, and capacity to change – while considering the interconnections of economic levels - firm capability, business ecosystem, and macro environment following the International Trade Center (ITC)’s SME competitiveness design and methodology.

The Development Solutions NGO aims to conduct panel surveys at regular intervals to assess the competitiveness of SMEs and is dedicated to contributing to research and analysis-driven policy planning and decision-making on fostering the development of SMEs in Mongolia.
