We are happy to be able to meet the needs of our province with our delicious cakes

N.Marjangul graduated from the Food Technical School of Kazakhstan in 1990 with a degree in meat technology and worked at the Meat Factory of Bayan-Ulgii aimag, and then in the bakery of a food factory.

Because the factory was privately owned, wages were low and living standards were low. So she was always thinking about starting her own business. But she could not find a way to implement the idea. At the time, GER Initiative, which had recently opened a new branch in Ulgii, announced on TV that it would be conducting a bakery training in September 2006, and she met with the project which opened up opportunities for her to start a business.

She got acquainted with the project’s activities, received advice on how to start a new business, improve her life, and came up with the idea of starting a business. Although she specializes in meat technology, she attended a project bakery training at the suggestion of business consultants who said that the bakery business in Ulgii was profitable. So she applied for a loan from the project. After learning about Marjan's hard work, purpose, drive, and business plans, the GER Initiative provided her with loan brokerage services to enable her to start her own business.

With this money, she bought an oven and other equipment and started a small bakery. She has been in constant contact with the project, regularly reads project publishings, manuals and newspapers, and maintains the project's ledgers. She has also advertised her business in the project newspaper.

Marjan said, "Even though we already had a bank loan, the double financing from the project allowed us to have our own custom cake box, and additionally we used to sell our cakes only from the shop, but now they’re available in other shops and in the countryside." Indeed, there is no cake box printing factory in Ulgii, so a staff member at the project in the city connected her to a low-cost cake box printing plant.

As a result of her business, she has improved her livelihood, has a delivery car, has increased the capacity of her equipment, expanded her rental space and increased the salaries of her employees. People and organizations appreciated the taste and quality of the products of the “Marjan” bakery, and now she is in charge of the “Lunch” program’s baked goods of two public schools in the aimag center and one school in the countryside, which confirms her success in such a short time. N.Marjangul's future goal is to build a large factory with many workers and jobs of her own.

Good luck to Marjangul for her hard work, diligence and purpose.

Client feedback:

“Local customers are now able to buy fresh cakes in whatever quantity they want, if before they had to travel to Ulaanbaatar and come back to buy cake.

Our business has expanded to have two assistants, our work starts early in the morning and is busy until 1 am, and the number of customers is increasing day by day, which makes our work and business even more inspiring. ”
