TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO DEVELOP CAPACITIES ON CIRCULAR ECONOMY FOR MICRO, SMALL, AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES IN MONGOLIA HAS COMMENCED

In order to introduce this circular economy model to the tourism sector and waste management to support the implementation of the Green Development Policy in Mongolia, the “Building capacities on circular economy for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Mongolia” project is initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, with the support of the Asian Development Bank and technical assistance implementing by the joint consortium of Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM), Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association (ToC) and Development Solutions NGO from November 2022 to May 2024 .
The consulting service plans to implement the following 3-components activities to support women-led and women-managed Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises operating in the tourism industry to recover their businesses from the post-Covid-19 crisis and achieve a sustainable green recovery. Which includes:
- FIRSTLY, to analyze the policy environment and legal documents supporting the circular economy, to make a comprehensive assessment of the opportunities and difficulties of introducing the circular economy
- SECONDLY, based on the results of the comprehensive assessment, develop and implement a training and capacity-building program aimed at improving the understanding and knowledge of the Circular Economy and strengthening the capacity of the circle of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Entrepreneurs in the target sector.
- THIRDLY, based on the results of the capacity-building program, information dissemination and experience learning events will be organized at the national and international levels.
The project inception workshop was held on 29 November 2022, with the aim of introducing the key stakeholders of the project to the activities to be performed within the framework of the consulting service, which will be implemented in a total of 19 months period.
